Managing and Treating Acid Reflux

Managing and Treating Acid Reflux

There are several steps you can take to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of acid reflux 역류성 식도염 증상. These include:

1. Dietary Modifications

  • Avoid Trigger Foods: Stay away from foods and drinks that exacerbate reflux, such as acidic foods (citrus), fatty foods, spicy foods, chocolate, alcohol, and caffeine.

  • Eat Smaller Meals: Eating smaller, more frequent meals helps reduce pressure on the stomach and prevents overeating.

  • Stay Upright After Eating: Avoid lying down immediately after eating. Stay upright for at least two to three hours to allow the stomach to digest food properly.

2. Weight Management

Excess weight, especially around the abdomen, can contribute to acid reflux. Losing weight may help relieve pressure on the stomach and reduce the frequency of reflux episodes.

3. Medication

Over-the-counter medications like antacids, H2 blockers, or proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) can help reduce stomach acid. However, these medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, especially if taken long-term, as they can have side effects.

4. Surgery

In severe cases, surgery may be recommended to strengthen the LES or correct a hiatal hernia. This is usually considered after other treatment options have failed.
